Looking at the pictures, you may just think that you missed the launch of our new Bertram 35 in Maine. Don’t fret! Although we are well on our way down the production line at Lyman-Morse, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to capture our scale model along the Camden waterfront during our Bertram Sneak Peek Weekend. What a sweet boat in any harbor!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for what started out as a rainy event. Although sure as the sun will rise….well… it did ….and made for a beautiful day on Friday. It was a fun few days talking with many of you not only about our past, but our future. And the new 35 was certainly the star of the show. We remain on track for a late summer launch, and then the “MOPPIE” will begin a tour down the eastern seaboard of the U.S. with stops along the way for boat shows and sea trials. Please let me know if you would like to schedule yours.
Besides learning that Susan and I should never be bartenders after poisoning the judges during our Cinco de Mayo margarita contest, we also learned from Bertram enthusiasts that we’ve produced one heck of a big 35. That seemed to be the common response from our guests during the weekend. If you couldn’t make it and would still like a sneak peek in Maine, please let me know. And in case you missed it, here’s a summary by the numbers:
170 lobster rolls served
104 the number times we heard “This is a really big 35”
53 ½ Bertram enthusiasts attended
52 one-pound Maine lobsters consumed
$1,600 dollars raised for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine
20 members of the marine press attended
18 pounds of deconstructed nachos served at the 250 Main Hotel (shameless plug for Cabot Lyman) on Cinco de Mayo
6 Bertram 35s sold to date
2 really bad margaritas served on Cinco de Mayo prepared by Susan and myself. No, I mean really bad….Seriously…Jalapenos, Susan!
It was a great weekend and I gotta tell you, the enthusiasm for the 35 was really contagious. When you’re flat out every day on a new endeavor such as this, it’s rewarding to be reminded by our faithful that our mission of quality over quantity resonates with serious boaters. Peter, Susan, Earl, Morgan, Keara and I were once again reminded on why we may have the best jobs in the world. We’d also like to thank our sponsors Simrad and Vetus-Maxwell who share our enthusiasm for this project. Please follow us on Facebook.com/BertramYacht to see a complete set of pictures from the weekend. And of course, don’t hesitate to contact me (TThompson@bertram.com) if you need any additional information on the 35.
Sincerely,
Capt. Tommy Thompson
